Solid Ground Jiu Jitsu Championships was founded to give young BJJ practitioners in Northern Ireland a safe, consistent, and well-organised competition environment to grow in.
We believe that only through reliable, regular competition can athletes and their coaches develop the skills needed to progress to the highest levels of the sport.
Why We Do This
Solid Ground exists to provide a platform for aspiring athletes to begin their competition journey, showcase their skills, grow their confidence, and forge lifelong connections within the BJJ community — all in a safe, supportive environment.
We run events that work for families. Free parking. No spectator charges. A single registration fee. Organised, on-time, with medics on site and referees who put the safety of young athletes first.
By offering a dedicated space for young practitioners to compete against their peers, we foster an inclusive environment that encourages growth, learning, and sportsmanship above all else.
We are community-driven. Based in Belfast, committed to Northern Ireland, and here for the long term. Thank you to every athlete, coach, parent, and supporter who has been part of the journey so far.

Safety Above All
Medics on site at every event. Referees trained to intervene before injury. Zero tolerance for aggressive language from coaches, parents, or supporters.
Fair Matchmaking
Matched by age, weight, and experience level. Beginners face beginners. Divisions built to be competitive and fair — not just convenient to organise.
Meaningful Mat Time
Round-robin and pool formats where appropriate. Two or more matches guaranteed per competitor. No child should travel and fight just once.
No Surprises
One registration fee. Free parking. Free spectator entry. Coffee and merch stands on the day. Accessible and stress-free for every family.
IBJJF Standards
Following the IBJJF rulebook with appropriate youth safety adaptations gives competitors transferable experience and clear pathways to higher levels.
Continuous Improvement
We actively seek feedback from athletes, coaches, and parents. Every event makes us better. Constructive input from the community is always welcome.
